IDSA, HIVMA Respond to New Administration COVID-19 Guidelines
In a statement released Tuesday, IDSA and HIVMA endorsed the Trump administration’s new “15 Days to Slow the Spread” guidelines as a step forward in federal efforts to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 across the United States.
Society leaders also called for stronger and more comprehensive efforts to contain and curtail the spread of disease. Namely, supportive measures for the many Americans whose lives, incomes and access to basic necessities will be impacted by the ongoing public health crisis, a plan to ensure an uninterrupted supply of the equipment needed to protect health workers and universal access to testing for the virus.
In addition, IDSA and HIVMA note that further responses to the social and economic impacts of both the spread of the virus and measures to control it will be necessary as the pandemic evolves.
